CG Shops costs €144 a year without VAT, with hosting and upkeep. WooCommerce is a free plugin for WordPress. You pay for hosting, a domain and paid plugins yourself, and updates and security are yours to look after. So WooCommerce gives you more freedom, and CG Shops less work.

Petya sells honey from her own hives and has a WordPress blog. She wonders about two things. Should she add WooCommerce to the blog? Or open a separate shop? Here are the facts, side by side.

## Side by side

WooCommerce has no subscription. So we compare CG Shops with what a WooCommerce shop cannot do without: hosting. Prices are for a year, without VAT.

CG Shops WooCommerce Price for a year €144 without VAT (€172.80 with VAT), hosting included [1] The plugin is free. Hosting, for example: €91.20 without VAT for the first year, then €114 [2] What else you pay Nothing to CG Shops [1] A domain, and paid plugins if you need them [2] Updates, security, backups We look after them [1] You do, or someone you hire Fee on sales 0% [1] 0%. ## The differences that matter

- **Who looks after the site.** WordPress and its plugins need regular updates. With CG Shops we do that. With WooCommerce you do it, or someone you hire.
- **The price.** Hosting for WooCommerce can cost less than CG Shops. It is a good idea to add up the whole year: hosting, domain, plugins for couriers and payments, and the time for upkeep.
- **Freedom.** WooCommerce is open source. You can change everything and choose your hosting. CG Shops is a ready service with clear limits.

## When WooCommerce is the better choice

- You already have a WordPress site and want the shop in it.
- You want full control of the code, the server and the design.
- You have someone who looks after the site.
- You want ePay.bg or the official myPOS plugin.
- You need a feature that only exists as a WordPress plugin.
